Beat indicator Ableton

Post by sphillpo » 16 Aug 2014 22:38

Does anyone have a template that will give a visual display of the beat. Ideally over a 2 bar display, showing the 1/4 note beats. I want to use it for my live work as a way of seeing where the beat is up to.

If someone can point me to any links that would be great. I did the usual forum search but could only find references to monitoring the BPM.

Use the new stepswitch object. Right out of the box, it can be "slaved" to an external midi clock. Read on the addendum.pdf on how to configure the object to display the rate you want (1/4, 1/16, etc) and how to "slave" it to an external midi clock. Then just open Ableton Live's midi settings and set up a midi clock output, taking under consideration you might need a negative delay compensation (setting found under the midi clock settings in Ableton Live) so that it compensates the latency introduced by midi over wi-fi.
