this would be wicked. z variable indeed. event info would be most welcome. onPress, onRelease
This would solve that...
Macciza wrote:**Edit - Actually not only a binary variable for touched but also a continuos value for 'where' it is touched, separate to x ie Knob/Fader position.
This will enable some nice scripting of 'relative' controls and use of physics, attraction etc in Faders and KNobs

Just wanted to get this one back to the top of the forum because Knob.z would be tremendously useful for a project that I'm working on right now.

+1 for sure. I'm kind of stuck on several workarounds which keep me from "needing" additional objects. If I had the Z, I could make a couple of these workarounds function.

Absolutely. Z values on EVERYTHING. You should see the work I've just done to bypass the lackthereof on the Pad element. I basically rebuilt the functions for Attack and Release time to deal with the inability to detect if an active cursor is in the pad. PLEASE PLEASE do this.

Hi
Are you sure you meant Pads? Feedback is inherent to them, or say sumof(Pads.x)
Attack and release makes me think of MultiBall.
I'm pretty sure you could do the same thing there with MultiBall.z . . .

Play with this a bit and you'll see what I mean.

I wanted the fader to increase/decrease according to the pads attack/release values when holding or releasing the pad.

Also wanted the ability to:

-hold (Freeze) the attack or release
-lock the current value so that the release would not take affect when letting go of the pad
-or manually set the fader position by hand (which overrides any attack or release in progress)
-manually fire the release if the fader is locked, either by manually setting it or from hitting the lock button.

As I remember (its been a week and my brain is full of php at the moment) the lock button and the manual release button were a pain to accomplish without a true Z value in the pad. Going without it meant that I could not reactivate the attack, or fade in from the pad once a manual release had been fired...
