Hi, I was wonder is additional software needed to run the templates? I.e. Max4live, etc

Basically No - unless it is needed by the Template - ie Traktor or Live controllers need the apps obviously.
For Mu you will need M4L to run it and would need Max to edit new Mu devices
Apart from that the Lemur will talk to anything via OSC or MIDI so all you need are OSC/MIDI compatible things to talk to.
