How good is Lemur as a patch editor?

Post by LNZ » 14 Apr 2014 01:58

Im very close to buying an ipad with lemur. It sure looks amazing. I got two questions though:

1. How would Lemur compare to something like the Kiwi Patch Editor for controlling synths? For me Lemur seems more flexible. But im worried about bugs as its not made for controlling external hardware(?)

2. Is it possible to use Lemur without a computer?

Hi
Buy it!, I say . . .

1. Don't know KiwiPatch Editor (quick net search) Aah a hardware device, knobs, buttons, faders, lcd - yep could duplicate that, I reckon . . .

2. Yep, using a MIDI interface for iPad or Camera Kit and USB MIDI - Lemur can do it's MIDI without a computer.
You can even do most editing on the iPad though running the Editor on a computer is the best option with full capability.

Looking through the KPE manual you could both duplicate the KPE and have presets for different synths,
or simulate the editor devices being emulated, or design your own custom editor implementation . . .

cheers
