Kontrolab 2 Question

Hi Guys,
I've been using kontrolab 2 with my hardware gear for a while and it's great.
Now, I want to use it with Ableton. But, when I do, it makes ableton go crazy because all the sliders are sending all sorts of CC values.
I tried to "remove" all the midi stuff but it completely destroys the template.
Any idea how I can modify the template so that I can automap everything in ableton and prevent ableton knobs from moving on their own etc?
This seems like an unbelievably simple thing to do yet I always end up corrupting the template..
