Slow midi communication

Hi,
the app has incredible gaps and delays over midi, if I bring up and down a multi slider quickly ableton doesn't even detect any message at all.
It's running on Lion on a i7 macbook pro with no other apps open, tried to restart but without results.
Is there a fix for this?
Anybody having the same problem?

ERRATA CORRIGE: when quickly moving the slider ableton detects it anyway but with a strong delay.

ah, and the lemur app is running on an iPad 3 (never gonna call it "the new iPad").

have you tried playing with latency? it sounds like a latency setting to me.
