Scripting help for upcoming FL Studio Performance mode

Post by nucleon » 06 Feb 2012 12:12

We at Image-Line are looking into ways of implementing a Lemur layout to control the upcoming FL Studio Performance mode, which triggers clips in a similar way to Ableton Live.

Here are videos of alpha testing the mode, using a basic TouchOSC layout, Novation LaunchPad and APC40:

We would rather not use OSC, so the idea is to parse MIDI Sysex to Lemur, to RGB colour and maybe name the pads on a grid, to correspond to clips in FL Studio.

Is anyone interested in helping us with the scripting here?

Is this possible via MIDI and Sysex only?

Thanks.

Hi
Looks interesting - Will Performance Mode be on the iPad app?

Certainly 'doable' and some, on the iPad depending on command/response ability of the app . . .
With a comprehensive MIDI implementation, including sysex and NRPN's, and System messaging it would work.

Why not OSC? It can provide finer grained control and richer address space, and is widely implemented . .

Unfortunately I don't run Windows but would be interested in having a look if it runs on the iPad version.
However I don't actually have your iOS app so would have to look into that . .

Cheers

Hi, thank you for your reply.

Performance mode is for the full desktop version of FL Studio on PC. Currently in alpha, no official release yet. So Leumr would just act as a controller on iPad, but with visual feedback.

OSC would itself need to be implemented in FL Studio, where MIDI already works on that side for other hardware controllers, so should be easier.
