KapturePad doesn't capture everything and...

KapturePad doesn't seem to capture anything inside my racks making it fairly limited for my uses.

Also, when moving the morph slider, the whole GUI on ableton freezes. This is on an i7 mac btw (edit)

Can we have a max4live connector, i'd rather not have a separate app to load when loading ableton.

Not that impressed so far...

Thanks for getting in touch. Sorry to hear you've been having issues. Kapture Pad has been working very succesfully on very large sets, so they're is surely a way to make it work. Please send me your Log.txt file and email to support@liine.net

You can get the Log.txt file from the following location:
/Users/"your username"/Library/Preferences/Ableton/Live 8.x.x/Log.txt

or if you're on PC:

Hello, I'm having a similar problem with both m4l Kapture and Kapture pad on my ipod touch. In both cases I can't kapture settings of the drum rack chains.
Set up:
I have a drum rack with simplers inside. Each simpler has it's transpose box mapped to a midi controller and these DO get kaptured.
I also have the mutes, volumes, pans and sends of the drum rack mapped to a midi controller, but non of this stuff gets kaptured.

It's seems the device inside the rack's chain's can be kaptured, but not the settings of the chain (sends, vol, pans, mute and solo).

Should I be able to kapture or is this just something that can't be kaptured.
Either way, great stuff, but being able to kapture this info would really useful for my setup.
Any help would be much appreciated.

p.s. I'm on OSX 10.5.8, running live 8.2.2 and as far as I know the latest versions of Kapture and kapture pad.

Thanks for the positive feedback.

Unfortunately that is indeed a limitation of the API so it cannot be Kaptured.

Hopefully in a future Max for Live update this will be implemented.

I thought that might be the case. That's a shame. What would you suggest would be the best alternative? Maybe rather than having a drum rack, just make 8 midi tracks and group them. Then I could surely kapture everything, but would that mean I would have to sequence each drum part as individual clips to keep it at c3 (original pitch) rather than altogether in one clip, that would be a pain.

Hello Gamitzel,

The good news is that we might be able to do this through the API, we are working on it in the meantime here is a workaround.

What i would recomend you to do is create a Simpler, then create 8 audio tracks and group the simpler with the audio tracks together. Route the output of each Simpler channel to the audio tracks input (8 channels inside simpler 8 audio tracks) and set the audio tracks to monitor "In" which is next to "Auto" and "Off".
This allows you to have one MIDI clip to control up to 8 sounds and Kapture every parameter as well.

Or you could give a shot to Sixteen Macros by Covert Operators, its actually preaty neat and would work for you.
