Further to my previous post re: broken Looper . . . a little more research on the issue (which affects me and many others) yields a possible reason for the buggy behaviour which seems relevant to this discussion. It appears that controlling the Looper via MIDI somehow contributes to "ghost" buffers?...

I believe the correct answer to this question is . . . don't bother, it's not worth it! The Looper device in Live is pretty much broken / unuseable (at least in my experience). To elaborate - Looper doesn't clear its buffers when instructed to, plays back previously cleared (not!) material randomly....
