I ran into this a while back too. At first I thought my scripting was bad but confirmed the bug with a monitor for the slider's z. It is/was intermittent for me--you too?

Re: Store reference to object in variable
It's true, you can't do this: decl obj = SomeObject; obj.light = val; but you can do this: decl obj = SomeObject; setexpression(obj, 'light', val); The same also applies for attributes. I attached a simple template that doesn't do exactly what you describe, just essential stuff. Also, maybe you know...

Re: arraytostring?
I just realized I couldn't open my script either. This one should work better. It has the same max value limitation that Alex noted.

Re: arraytostring?
Nice script, Alex. Yeah, Lemur seems to have some limitations that are not too difficult to run up against.

Re: arraytostring?
It's not obvious but arraytostring converts an array of ASCII codes to a string. For single-digit numbers you just need to add 48 to get the ASCII code. It's a little more complicated for numbers > 9. I wrote a function intToArray(n) that converts a number n with any number of digits to an array of ...

dynamic addresses for receiving OSC input?
I've managed to set up sending dynamic OSC messages using arraytostring() and oscout(). Is it possible to do something similar for incoming messages? From what I have seen so far, incoming messages must be hardcoded to an expression/variable or script (On OSC). Am I missing something? Anyone have an...

Re: Ability to rename scripts and expressions
say we've got an expression, fade=1 then we've got an expression, fadeOut=4 and we want to rename fade to fooBar... some hefty regex work (hefty for me atleast becuase I hate/am terrible with regex) has to be done to prevent fadeOut from becoming fooBarOut... It's actually not too bad, you just hav...

Re: comparing strings
Thanks MM, I will check out your suggestions. Sorry for not being more detailed. I try to simplify the problem so it's easy to find and duplicate, but maybe I oversimplified. In any case, I appreciate your help!

comparing strings
If I enter 'cat' == 'cat' in monitor value, I would expect to get 1, but instead the editor crashes. Same if I enter 'cat' != 'dog'. If i do the same inside a script, it doesn't crash, but I don't get a result. Is there another way to compare strings? Is this a bug?
Thanks,
A
